Racism In Between the Lines

In this workshop, we will open our eyes to identifying racism present in literature in all of its ways. We will engage in discussion on how to walk students through a literary analysis and uncover it ourselves in our practices. Through reflection questions, frameworks, and key terms and definitions, we will take home ongoing work for self improvement. This will be applicable for teachers at all grade levels.

Participants also have the option to watch the recorded workshop until July 31st!

You can also join educators from all over the state in the online SUMMER 2022 IRC BOOK CLUB on Textured Teaching.  Beginning June 26, this seven-week online discussion will help you build traditional literacy skills while supporting student in developing their social justice skills.

Looking Back, Looking Forward: Reading Autobiographies and Reading Plans

Reading conferences and response activities often focus on the books students are currently reading. Digging into readers’ past reading experiences and considering their reading plans can provide powerful insight into their reading identities and development. In this session, reflect on your reading autobiography and plans and examine instructional strategies, surveys, and response activities that help your students look back through their reading lives and look forward to more reading.

Participants also have the option to watch the recorded workshop until July 31st!
