Introductory Paragraph:  Kathy Au is a senior advisor with schoolRISE. Her research interest is in equity through higher-order thinking for students of diverse backgrounds. She is best known for her work with culturally responsive instruction and continues to write about what schools can do to bring all students to high levels of literacy. Kathy served as Professor of Education at the University of Hawaii at Manoa and as an educational psychologist at Kamehameha Schools.
