Climate Justice Now: Picturebooks that Support Learning About Action as Part of Climate Education
By Kristine M. Schutz and Rebecca Woodard

Document: Column

Introductory Paragraph:  This column is the last of a three-part series that explores children’s picturebooks that support teaching and learning about anchoring themes of climate education in elementary classrooms (see Figure 1). In the first two columns, we unpacked the anchoring themes of interconnectivity and relationality, and we shared picturebooks to foster conversations of these themes with children in elementary classrooms. In this third column, we explore the final anchoring theme of action. In particular, we want children to understand that, together, we must act to solve complex problems and impact systems that contribute to climate change.
