Legacy Voices: Insights from Dr. Tim Rasinski
By Steven L. Layne

Document: Column

Introductory Paragraph:  Dr. Rasinski is well known for his research and scholarship into reading fluency, word study, and word play, and for his commitment to struggling readers. Tim taught in the Reading and Writing Center at Kent State for over 35 years where he also directed the university’s award-winning reading clinic. Tim continues his professional work today—consulting with school districts, speaking at professional conferences, conducting research to improve reading outcomes in students, and writing academically. With his wife Kathy, Tim lives in Stow, Ohio. Perhaps most importantly at this stage in life, they enjoy time with their family that includes seven grandchildren, ranging in age from under 1 to 10. For the past several years, Tim has been posting weekly resources on fluency and word study for teachers on his twitterfeed @timrasinski1. He can be reached at [email protected]..
